Monitoring Nuclear and Mining Facilities with 3D Terrain Generation

On-Demand Webinar

To stay ahead in today’s rapidly evolving landscape, organizations need a persistent view of land, operations, and assets everywhere on Earth. Identifying potential threats and acting decisively is crucial to ensuring global security. In addition to using open source intelligence, geospatial intelligence analysts rely on satellite imagery to understand patterns of life and detect and monitor ongoing changes on the ground.

In September 2020, Planet’s satellite imagery captured construction of a new underground facility at the Natanz nuclear complex in Iran. Using that imagery in BAE Systems GXP software, analysts were able to create a 3D terrain map to locate areas of excavation, ingress and egress routes, and identify potential locations for a helicopter landing zone. This same approach can be applied to a variety of situations, including monitoring iron ore stockpiles at mining facilities.

Join experts from Planet Federal and BAE Systems in this joint webinar to gain a better understanding of how Planet’s daily, ‘always-on’ satellite constellation, combined with the BAE Systems GXP software ecosystem, provides analysts with a unique toolset to find early indications of activity that enables timely intelligence and business decisions.

In this webinar, you’ll learn:

  • How Planet imagery in the GXP software ecosystem provides early indications of activities, including those that are carried out in a covert manner
  • The importance of ‘always-on’ monitoring to support mission success
  • Multiple use case examples for facility monitoring with automatic terrain generation
  • GXP’s easy-to-use terrain differencing, LOS, and volumetric measurement tools

Speakers:

  • Robert Cardillo, Chief Strategist and Chairman of the Board, Planet Federal
  • Rick Racine, Business Development, BAE Systems
  • Sam St. Lifer, Senior Solutions Engineer, Planet Federal
