Partnering for a Sustainable Future

Bringing public and private organizations together at COP26 and beyond

Extreme weather, flooding, drought, increased fire risk, melting glaciers and rising ocean temperatures have never been a more central part of the global discussion.

Long term solutions to climate change require collaboration between public and private sectors, and span virtually every sector of the global economy: energy, transport, industry, agriculture, cities, finance, land use and more.

In response, governments are strengthening national climate action plans; global financial markets are demanding significant decarbonization; companies and cities are setting more ambitious targets; and individuals are changing behaviors with sustainability and the environment in mind.

Planet was founded with the pioneering vision to use space to help life on earth.

We see examples of this vision unfold as daily Earth observation data - a new picture of the entire planet every day - empowers every industry and sector to optimize operations with sustainability and climate in mind. It will take all of us working together to make the changes required to ensure the long term health of life on Earth.

Planet at COP26

This November, Planet will join leaders from over 200 countries in Glasgow, Scotland at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). This conference represents one of the most important climate negotiations of our lifetime, with the goals of reducing near-term emissions by 2030, achieving net zero emissions by 2050, and helping push both public & private finance toward investment into climate-resilient infrastructure.

As Alok Sharma (President of COP26) states, satellite data has an important role to play in achieving these goals -- to help prevent deforestation, to achieve sustainable agriculture and to give countries all over the world tools to not only to tackle the impact of climate change, but to track and measure our progress in combating it.

Planet is partnering with Nature4Climate at COP26

This year's Climate COP brings together allies of nature promoting its role as a third of the climate solution and as essential to stabilise economies, livelihoods and for our health.

Scores of civil society groups have convened around the concept of 'nature-positive' in the NATURE + ZONE, the Nature Pavilion and Nature's Newsroom all inside the COP main area for delegates.

Together, we'll bring to life the momentum, action, and impact that surrounds nature-based solutions, to create a coherent and integrated experience for the nature theme across COP26.

Natural climate solutions can provide around one-third of the cost-effective climate mitigation needed between now and 2030 to achieve the 1.5ºC target of the UN Climate Paris agreement.

Call to Action for COP26

The NATURE + ZONE space provides opportunities to meet and engage with the key spokespeople from leading climate groups in exclusive interviews, panel discussions and keynote addresses. Housing the Nature’s Newsroom, this pavilion is a central hub for the nature and climate conversation at COP.

  • This is a global call for bold leadership on climate and nature.
  • We must reverse nature loss by 2030, whilst also halving emissions this decade, to limit global warming to 1.5°C and build climate change resilience.
  • Invest in nature-based solutions to strengthen your Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • The race is on to turn words into actions and create an equitable, net-zero, climate resilient, nature-positive world for all.
